Psychological distress, challenges and perceived needs among doctors and nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic, in a tertiary care hospital in Sri Lanka

Background: Studies done around the world since onset of pandemic have shown high levels psychological morbidity among healthcare workers (HCW). Psychological impact COVID-19 on HCW in Sri Lanka has not been assessed.
 
 Objectives: To assess distress, challenges and perceived needs (HCW) during a tertiary care hospital Lanka
 Methods: A cross sectional descriptive study was 394 HCW. specifically designed questionnaire used to socio-demographic details faced by Depression, anxiety stress scale (DASS-21) measure impact.
 Results: Anxiety commonest squeal. High were present 15.7% 4.8% severe. depression seen 13.9%, with 4.3% showing severe symptoms. Elevated 11.4% 2.6% experiencing stress. Females, nurses those aged between 25-34 years had higher depression, (p
